Bob is one of the early “Baby Boomers” who was born in New Jersey and moved to the San Francisco Bay area while in high school. After graduation from Terra Linda High School, Bob went on to obtain his AS Degree in Fire Science from College of Marin (the second one issued). During his active Fire Service Career which spanned over 25 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter, Fire Cadet, career firefighter, and Fire Captain.

After retirement from the San Rafael Fire Department, he served as the interim Executive Director of both the California Fire Chief’s Association and the Fire Districts Association of California and then becoming the Assistant General Manager for CSFA. After leaving CSFA he was employed by the Associated General Contractors of California as a District Manager and Director of Regulatory Services and Director of the Building Division.

Bob served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1966-1972 attaining the rank of SSgt.

He recently retired as the General Manager of a non-profit insurance trust for a statewide firefighter association, a position that he has held for 15 years.

Along the way, Bob has also been active in many volunteer positions as a scout leader, SRFD Fire Service Explorer Post 321 founding advisor, church youth advisor for ten years and condo owners’ association president. Additionally, during his Fire Service career he served in volunteer positions with both local associations and as a board member and president and Insurance Trustee of the California State Firefighters’ Association. He was also a Charter Member of IAFF Local 1775 and a member of two additional IAFF Locals as well as a member of the Retail Clerks Union for five years.

Bob has served in a volunteer capacity on the steering committee for the Continuing Challenge Haz Mat Workshop since 1993. Currently he serves as the Operations Manager for the Workshop held annually in Sacramento. The “Challenge” is one of the largest and oldest workshops of its kind in the nation.

Bob also volunteered as a group facilitator in the Batters Intervention Program for The Center for Violence Free Relationships in Placerville, California for six years.

Bob resides in El Dorado County with his wife of 40 years, Peggy. They have three adult children and five grandchildren and enjoy family time at the lake.
